--- THIS INSTALLATION GUIDE WILL
ALSO WORK ON THE i710, i736, etc... ---
|
|
| Step #1: Remove the
SIM Card, and then the four blue screws by using a T6 (Torx Six)
screwdriver. |
 |
| Step #2: Remove the
buttons, and the bottom piece. |
 |
| Step #3: Spread the
motherboard slightly using your fingers, then disconnect the ribbon in
the GREEN rectangle by lifting up
any of the two corners marked in RED.
(If you separate the motherboard into two pieces, THIS IS OK,
and is also an alternative method. If this happens don't reconnect
the two parts until later when you reconnect the ribbon that you just
disconnected). |
 |
| Step #4: Use a T5
(Torx Five) screwdriver to remove the tiny screw marked by the
CIRCLE. |
 |
| Step #5: Remove the
Microphone, (Don't forget which way it is facing before you take
it out.) |
 |
| Step #6: (THIS
IS TRICKY, USE EXTREME CAUTION TO NOT DAMAGE THE ORANGE WIRE)
[1] Stick a small
phillips-head screwdriver in the area marked by the
GREEN arrow. Push the hinge
into the phone (RED arrow),
pull the screwdriver towards yourself (BLUE
arrow). This will allow you to pop off the upper portion of the
phone (WATCH THE WIRE).
[2] Remove the hinge by
prying it out in the direction of the YELLOW
arrow. |
 |
| Step #7:
RED arrow on the right shows you how
to remove the hinge from step #4. Remove the Caller-ID panel and
the Disco Light circle. Remove the four red screws by using a T6
(Torx Six) screwdriver (Don't mix them up with the blue screws). |
 |
| Step #8: After
removing the red screws, the inside screen panel will come loose, take
it out. Then remove the plastic middle piece marked by the
YELLOW arrow. |
 |
| Step #9: Unwind the
ribbon, and remove the metal ribbon hinge, shown by the
RED arrow. |
 |
| Step #10: Remove the
two rubber pieces shown by the YELLOW
arrows, on the back part of the phone. |
 |
| Step #11: Carefully
detach and lift the speaker/vibrator connector up and away from the
metal plate [ Don't rip off the poor thing :-)
] |
 |
| Step #12: Now you
have to remove the metal pipe that the antenna slides in and out from.
First, make sure that the pipe is as far UP as possible (Push it
UP in direction of the RED
arrow, and away from the RED
circle). Second, slide in a flat-head screwdriver and pop out the
metal pipe by using the BLUE arrow
as a guide. |
 |
| Step #13: Oh no,
13 is a bad luck number! its OK I made sure it would be a
very easy step so you won't mess up ;-) Just remove
the big metal plate! |
 |
| Step #14: First make
sure the Vibrator is loose (BLUE
area), then pop out the speaker (TRICKY,
TRICKY) use the RED
arrows as a guide, this is similar to the way you removed the
pipe, but much harder. |
 |
| Step #15: Remove the
metal piece first (YELLOW arrow),
then remove the plastic lock (GREEN
arrow). And don't loose the tiny spring in the
RED circle, it might shoot out and
go flying when you remove the plastic lock, so make sure it doesn't go
too far or else you will never find it!. |
 |
| === THIS IS THE MID-POINT,
FROM HERE WE DO EVERYTHING BACKWARDS INSIDE THE NEW HOUSING. ===
Step #16: Rebuild the upper portion of the phone
(Go from Step #9 to Step #7). Now,
make sure everything is lined up (Slide the ribbon through the hole) and
then pop in the hinge, do exactly as shown in this picture, the
RED circle should be where the
YELLOW one is when you are done, and
the phone should open and close properly. |
 |
| Step #17: Screw in the tiny
T5 (Torx Five) screw that you took out in Step #4.
Then reconnect the ribbon to the motherboard (Refer to Step #3). |
 |
| Step #18: Do everything else
backwards, if you have questions/problems, support will be provided with
the forum. I will
be posting detailed pictures/illustrations concerning your
question/problem upon request. |
